Let’s talk about Kansas City doughnuts! Better yet, let’s try out new places and create a tier list of the best doughnuts and doughnut bakeries around the Kansas City metro. Over the summer, Chuck Eats KC will be trying new doughnut shops and sharing our finds and takes. We will be focusing on independent doughnut shops and bakeries. My criteria are listed below. Can Chuck find a better Old Fashioned than the ones I love from Quik Trip?

First Looks: Weston Coffee Roastery

As part of the research for my upcoming Youtube series on day trips around Kansas City, I’ve been visiting food and drink establishments in Weston, Missouri. This year, I’ve visited Weston Coffee Roastery twice. Each time I was greeted by very friendly staff. Excellent coffee. Great coffeehouse atmosphere. Very spacious, homey, with plenty of seating. Right on the main street of Weston too. You can grab a coffee and check out the historical stuff or look at imports and antiques. Look for an expanded review on the website soon.

• Yoli Tortilleria wins prestigious James Beard Award for 'Outstanding Bakery'
• KC Mac N’ Co. has opened a regular bricks and mortar restaurant at 1111 Main in Kansas City, Missouri. They were previously in the Parlor food hall.
• Sweet Cups Rolled Ice Cream & Coffee is a new ice cream parlor at 4243 Troost Ave. in Kansas City.
• Steve’s Villa Capri has closed in Overland Park. They’ve been in business for over 60 years.
